Surfin Wireless on the Mac

Nothing beats sitting down in the waiting area for a flight, sliding out your sleak laptop, clicking connect and surfin the net till your row is called. Well, when I reformatted my laptop to put panther on I forgot to save my settings for the wireless dialup. After some digging I found Ross Barkman's excellent page on setting up wireless net access.

Linux Backdoor Attempt

Some crafty bugger tried to sneak some code into the linux kernel. Gotta love cvs. Its impressive that with that many commits going on that someone was able to pick up on it. Makes you wonder if any tainted code has made it in in the past.

Apache and PHP

Apache 1.3.29 and PHP 4.3.4 both came out so I've been repackaging RPMs like a madman. I think they time the release of those two on purpose. I've got my own RPM that combines apache and php into one rpm with all my favorite goodies compiled just the way I like em. When you have 25+ servers that need apache on them it sure is nice to package them and make your own urpmi source for them. Once the rpm package is compiled and tested it takes me about 15 minutes to upgrade all the servers. :)
For some reason PHP always seems to come out a few days after apache. So just as soon as I've got my rpm package upgraded to the new apache, bam, i get to start all over again with php. But still, it sure beats having to manually install apache on each machine.
